Eco Fact; Silk is a natural and biodegradable fibre.
Timelessly elegant, silk also has flame retardant and antibacterial properties. A natural fibre, not only will silk biodegrade, but Mulberry trees, which sustain most silkworms, require few pesticides or fertilisers, can be grown organically and require less water than cotton. As long as silk is sustainably and ethically sourced, it’s a great natural fibre.
Maheshvari is one of the matrikas who are the female Shaktis (power, energy) of the male gods. A Hindu Goddess who brought the rain, as the story goes, after a hundred-year drought, became so distraught and cried for nine days and nights. Her tears and compassion flooded the river, and the drought came to an end. Upcycle Studio chose Maheshvari as the name for this rug as she is widely regarded as a symbol of courage, strength and victory. Goodweave, like Maheshavari, channels courage and strength, through their holistic approach, aims to heal and educate those children who have been exploited while changing the underlying root causes.
Become lost in the alluring, hand-crafted circular pattern and jungle green of the Maheshwari silk rug. It is the perfect depiction of boho-chic meets modern elegance. Enjoy, guys; we know you will love the Maheshvari rug.
