HALO Cufflinks

FOR THE STORY TELLER

Between 1964 and 1973 during the Vietnam War more than 2 million tons of bombs were dropped on the land of Laos, the most bombed country in the history of mankind. In the 1970s, artisans in Laos recycle these bombs into spoons by recovering the metal from the shells.

Elizabeth and Camille, founders of the ARTICLE22 brand, are inspired by this unique skill and decided to turn these remains of bombs into jewelry in order to raise funds with the NGO MAG (Mines Advisory Group) which launches de-mining operations. The craftsmen, from one of the provinces most affected by the bombings in Laos, are working closely with Article22 to create these unique jewels.

Recycled Aluminum Bomb Charms created in Xiangkhouang. Sterling Silver created in Vientiane

The jewels become objects of happiness, courage, peace, reparation and reconciliation and support the work of an organization and craftsmen who too often see their impact as limited.

The packaging also to its history. Made from Cotton and hand screen printed, these are made directly in Laos by a women's collective to help a greater number of artisans, in total, ARTICLE22 employs more than 40 in Laos .

This positive approach based on sustainable development & respect for culture is key to this newly updated cufflink collection.

Since the creation of the brand, the equivalent of 40 football fields have already been cleared.

Each piece gives back to support traditional Laotian artisan livelihoods, village development, community endeavors and further de-mining efforts.

Your purchase contributes to MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to safely & expertly clear some of the 80 million unexploded bombs contaminating land in Laos.

$200 clears 9m2 of Laotian landscape
